the Tynjetaler is made at cheese farm 'De Gelder'. Cheese dairy farm "De Gelder" is located near Tijnje, surrounded by vast farmlands and near the beautiful nature reserve "De Deelen", in the heart of Friesland. We are a real family business that started in 1962. Initially only as a dairy farm, but in 1985 the production of the tastiest dairy products from our own milk was started. Think custard, yogurt, buttermilk and butter. A few years later we also started making our own farmhouse cheese.
AWARD WINNER The most delicious cheese in the Netherlands
The fact that our cheese is experienced as particularly tasty is evident from the fact that in 2009 our cheese was awarded the best farmhouse cheese in the Netherlands. In 2012, “De Tynjetaler” just missed the first prize in the final of the Taste of NL, but managed to win the regional prize. Cheese farm / dairy farm "De Gelder" therefore strives for the highest possible when it comes to traditionally prepared dairy products. To obtain the best quality dairy, it is very important that the cows feel good about themselves. We work very hard on that, every day. We provide clean, spacious stables, fresh air and good nutrition. The welfare of our 220 dairy cows is central. Because when they feel good, they give the best milk. “De Gelder” consists of a dairy farm run by Jacob and Jan van Emst and a dairy company where Anne and Jenny Vogel-van Emst work every day to produce the most delicious cheese and dairy products.
