The round cheese wheels have a diameter of 80 to 100 cm and weigh 75 to 120 kg. Its size, tradition and excellent quality make this cheese the undisputed "king of cheeses" worldwide.

Emmentaler is usually eaten cold in pieces or slices. However, it is also excellent as a tasty ingredient in hot dishes.

The most typical feature of the king of cheeses is undoubtedly its holes. These are about the size of a cherry or nut and are created during the ripening process.
