Acacia honey

Acacia honey is a fragrant, soft honey. This honey is perfect for people who only eat honey occasionally, or who only like liquid honey. This is because the honey hardly crystallizes, so this honey remains liquid for a longer period of time.

As the name suggests, the bees for this honey fly on the flowers of the acacia tree, or Robinia Pseudoacacia. This tree is in bloom in May, June and July. The white butterfly-like flowers hang together in clusters. The tree itself is easy to recognize by the trunk, which has a strong and deeply grooved bark with striking vertical 'ribs'.

Acacia honey is very good to use as a sweetener for coffee, tea or yogurt. A good sugar substitute!

The acacia is native to North America. Acacia trees can also be found in the Netherlands, especially in city parks. However, Dutch acacia honey is almost impossible to obtain. Our honey comes from Hungary.
